Children’s Parties

Children’s birthday parties are lots of fun with WishWorks.

We offer children’s party entertainment for ages 3 to 10, with lots of colourful puppet characters and enthusiastic musical games.

Take the stress out of organising your child’s birthday so that you can enjoy it too, with two competent, relaxed children’s entertainment professionals at your home or venue to ensure that EVERYONE has fun! WishWorks can come to your party for half an hour’s puppet show entertainment, or run the whole party, which can include:

Helping your child open presents and writing down which gift came from who, whilst earlier arrivals are kept entertained with a treasure castle and the promise of prizes!
A puppet show for everybody to watch and enjoy
Lively traditional games and songs adapted to suit the party theme.
Helping to serve tea (WishWorks do not provide food for parties)
Story-telling and dressing up games
Opportunities for the children to put on their own puppet show

Suggested themes for puppet parties include pirates and mermaids, knights and princesses, and fairies and elves, or a Halloween/spooky but we can adapt the parties to suit most themes if required.

Whispering Smith Perfect for children aged 3-5

Whispering Smith is a very shy creature who gets stuck up a tree whilst trying to reach fruit. He has to learn to find his voice before he can get the help he needs to find his way down again. The audience and all the little woodland creatures have to help him to become a little braver, and attract the attention of Fynn the Dragon who is the only creature with enough magic power to get Whispering Smith back on the ground again.
This show has been performed by WishWorks at fetes, events and parties since 1999 and never ceases to involve children in laughter and useful suggestions, and in the big rush to feed Whispering Smith after the show!
This show uses hand, rod, glove and shadow puppets and a bubble machine!
(this show can be adapted to make a Halloween/scary show)

Excalibur Carrot Suitable for children aged 4-10

Join Warren the rabbit and his friends on a quest to find the Excalibur Carrot and along the way meet all the animals in the wood and join in with their most unusual hobbies. Can you score a goal past Hoggy the footballer hedgehog? Join a Dragon’s band?
From the surfing squirrel to the rock an roll Badger, the joke-telling mouse to the ballet dancing/quad biking fox cub this is an interactive treat for all.

Fairy Tales Suitable for children aged 4- 8

WishWorks offer retellings of traditional fairy tales such as Snow White and Rapunzel. In these shows a naughty puppet interrupts the story and adds or changes parts so that he/she can be in it. Selected children can also dress up and join in with the show.

Story Telling suitable for all ages

A perfect end to a puppet party is a storytelling session, where the children gather once more in front of our colourful booth to listen to, and join in with the creation of a story to suit their age/party theme. These stories often involve puppets and always involve interaction.

Puppet Making Parties suitable for children aged 5-10

Children spend an hour making their own colourful puppet character to take home, then, after tea, take it down the puppet catwalk and show all their friends!

Pet Shows suitable for children aged 5-10

Is your child an animal lover? Spend the early part of the party making a pet from some wonderfully tactile materials then enter a pet show, judged by one of our puppets. With classes from “pet that looks most like it’s owner” to “most useful pet” with something for everybody it is a chance to let imaginations run wild and win rosettes!

These shows are suitable for small-scale outdoor events, nurseries, weddings and fetes as well as birthday parties.
Younger siblings also enjoy watching colourful puppet shows and meeting the puppets.
Older siblings can help WishWorks perform their show if they want to get involved in entertaining their young brothers and sisters.
Please call for free advice on running your own child’s party, if you do not want to hire an outside entertainer.
WishWorks recommend Deniz, a face painter based in Brighton who can create magical faces for great numbers of children while remaining calm and friendly.
We can recommend other party entertainers, if you do not feel that puppet parties would suit your child, for example “Mr. Pineapple Head” the clown.
